Students are vital to the success of the Bell Walk for Kids Help Phone!

In 2007:

  • More than 2,200 students walked and raised pledges
  • Students raised more than $165,000

Register now and help show everyone what a difference student walkers can make!

There are three great ways for students to get involved:

  • As an individual walker
  • Team up with a friend and register as a Best Buds Team
    OR
  • Team up with three or more friends and register as a Student Team

Whether you’re walking by yourself or with friends, there are great student prizes to be won, and lots of fun to be had on Walk day.  PLUS students are also eligible for all the great individual incentive prizes!

Check out the Toolbox to find information and downloads to help you raise pledges and awareness of this great event!

Remember, every dollar you raise helps other young people – young people with questions or concerns who depend on the support of Kids Help Phone.

Be a Student Team Captain

Register as a Best Buds Team and fundraise with a friend.

As the saying goes, "two Kids Help Phone fundraisers are better than one", so partner up with a friend (must also be a student), set a goal, share ideas, and work together to raise pledges. Challenge other Best Bud teams to see who can raise the most.

Or join forces with three or more friends and register as a Student Team.

Your team can be as big as you want. Work as a group to set a goal, share ideas and have fun at the same time. Challenge other teams to see who can raise the most.

The Team Captain organizes his/her team of walkers, discusses fundraising tactics, and generally leads the way towards success.

Whether you’re on a Best Bud or Student Team, everyone is eligible for great student prizes! And best of all, you’ll be working together to help Kids Help Phone be there for kids who need help and support.

(Remember that 100% of Best Bud and Student Teams must be registered as students to win.)

5 Easy Steps for Being a Great Fundraiser and Team Captain

  1. Get the word out

Tell everyone you know about the event and encourage them to join your Team or create a Team of their own:
    • Use your Facebook and MySpace pages to direct people to your Pledge Page – you can even upload some inspirational videos on YouTube (make sure you're internet safe and savvy - check out our "Internet Safety" links on our Link Library) and put the link in your Pledge Page.
    • Get your school’s permission to put up Bell Walk for Kids Help Phone posters and to give weekly updates on all the teams in your school on the morning announcements.
    • Get your teachers involved.
    • Plan a walk around the track or alternate school day event.
    • Play sports? In a Club or Youth Group? Get them involved too!
    • Be creative!
  2. Get your team motivated
    • Think up a cool team name.
    • Make sure your team knows about the cool prizes
    • Set a team goal.
    • Make a team pledge page.
    • Challenge other teams.
  3. Monitor and share your team’s progress
    • Update your Facebook and MySpace pages, send weekly emails or text messages, or call to let everyone know how the team is doing.
    • Remember to congratulate team members who reach their fundraising goal.
  4. Get your team ready to walk
    • Met your team goal? Raise it higher!
    • Create t-shirts, banners, hats, etc. for Walk day.
    • Make sure your team knows to bring their pledge forms and any money collected with them on Walk day.
  5. Walk, celebrate and have fun!
    • Make sure everyone knows when and where to meet on Walk day so your team can walk together.
